I feel if I was in any horror situation I would be so safe and calm because with any other person they would be screaming and crying but if he and I were trapped in a building surrounded by ravenous mutants he would just be deadpan like “they are so rude I can’t believe this. Let’s blow this Popsicle stand.”
So I'm not asking anonymously because this isn't anon hate or anything along those lines <3 Okey so basically every female NEEDS feminism. It's an actual fact. Without it we wouldn't be able to vote, speak our opinion, and if it went to extremes even show our faces in public. Of course I agree that some people take it too far but every one of us needs feminism so I personally don't agree with your tags in that post but that's probably just my opinion Anyway, have a nice day~~~~
I think maybe you are flying under the assumption that women were never strong, intelligent, or stood up for themselves until some rich white victorian women held up some signs.
Yeah history says otherwise. If you look at the patterns that form in human civilizations, you find that rights for women emerge naturally from a society that is progressing. Because you need a society that already respects and listens to women, for female solidarity to form. Otherwise those women holding up words on a sheet, are about to get stoned or beheaded.
Feminism isn’t responsible for the rights of women. Those rights naturally spring from societies that are flourishing from capitalist wealth generation and an increase in secularism. The aversion to women having the rights that feminism fights for, comes not necessarily from the hatred of women, but instead from societies in survival mode and who put all the resources into their male children.
They did that because the male children were the ones who inherited property, guarded that land from invaders, and protected their parents if they lived into old age. But with the growth of cities, and economies, it becomes easier for upper class women to be educated, and they become more visible as equal workers. So basically the more money one had, the less people gave a fuck about what gender you were, or whether you assumed a position of power.
Female solidarity forms right about the time that society as a whole sees women as an important part of society. It’s not feminism that makes them so or makes men view them in this way. It’s not something you can force.
I would say that it’s important to be able to form groups to work toward human rights. The issues tackled by feminism, are not female issues. They are human issues, and the pursuit of equal rights is egalitarianism not feminism.
Feminism is the idea that there’s a mythical patriarchy oppressing women in the first world. I don’t think you understand what sort of things need to already be present in a society for people to give a fuck that angry women made some signs. In a real oppressive society, feminism will not work, because no one is going to take women seriously. You can not force them to do that,
It has to happen on it’s own. Women got the vote not because they asked, but because people were willing to make exceptions for rich white women who were out setting things on fire and using terrorist tactics. Meanwhile, what they should have been fighting for, was to abolish the current system that determined whether someone should be able to vote, which by then was tied to enlisting in the military. So instead of enlisting in the military, the suffragettes basically threw temper tantrums until they got voting rights for white women, and opposing voting rights for black women.
Second wave feminism came out of the natural progression towards middle class teens going to college and women being educated. But you really can not compare them to the suffragettes. The suffragettes were by modern standards religious conservatives that were disgusted by the existence of women like the 1920’s flapper girls. Which very much resembles moderate second wavers, who rightly threw away traditional gender roles, but then wrongfully blamed men for all the worlds problems in the form of patriarchy theory which is a weak argument at best. It is the belief that all men oppress all women and have done so since the beginning of time.
The fight of the second wavers was for that of birth control which was invented by a man, and abortion. The opposition to this was religious in nature and came from the religious men and women that dominated the US from the very beginning. So it wasn’t exactly a patriarchal response as it was a religious traditionalist response.
The third wave fight is a mess. It’s trying to add in things that are fundamental human problems that don’t specifically belong to women. So I would argue that we do not specifically need female solidarity to handle them, but instead we need people that are willing to look at the truth of these issues and the root of these problems.
If modern feminism is the group that is supposed to be solving these problems, then they are fucking up massively because they are trying to handle it with flawed reasoning, magical thinking, rape hysteria, and the overall belief that masculinity is the root of all the problems that men and women face. So yeah people should join to work together on these human problems, but feminism as it stands is almost a cult of broken reasoning that fails to see the big picture, and thinks that all it will take to solve those problems is a bunch of women angry enough to make signs.
That all we need to do, is to educate people (like we’ve been doing for hundreds of years) on how it’s bad to rape, murder, and disrespect others. Then this will magically make everything alright. Do you understand that there were strong capable women throughout history without feminism? That basically all that feminism is, is a bunch of women that are rich enough to express their anger at a government that already respects and even panders to them?
It honestly doesn’t matter whether or not feminists are right on something, They just need to scream loud enough, and 90% of the time they get it. Seriously look at the laws in place to protect women in every aspect of society, that often remove some of the rights men have in those situations, because it’s assumed that men will always be the ones putting women in danger.
We don’t need feminism. We need human rights advocates. If you can not see the difference, then you are part of the problem.
3 places thousands of miles way from each other each with citizens being murdered or severely injured for gathering PEACEFULLY in order to gain basic human rights.
this is happening simultaneously and yall still fuckin sleep???
Palestinians voted a long time terrorist group as their chosen form of governement and refuse to accept an offer for having 2 separate states, they don’t deserve a place along the other 2 situations nor any pity
“We don’t need feminism because many feminists want to criminalize BDSM, both relationships and otherwise. Considering what consenting adults do behind closed doors as “their concern” Is part of what made “the Patriarchy” so bad in the first place; their obsession has turned them into exactly what they’re fighting against.”—Anonymous (via why-we-dont-need-feminism)
Unfriendly reminder that in America it’s reasonable to say an unarmed black kid deserved to be shot six times because he might have robbed a convenience store, but a white kid shouldn’t be kicked off the high school football team just because he violently raped a girl.
